Oakland High Students Present at Fall Social
On the evening of Thursday November 6th, EarthTeam staff, students, alumni, board members, friends, supporters, teachers and community members gathered at The Sound Room in downtown Oakland for a Fall Social. The evening included music by Taylor Brown, delicious food, a service learning grant award from State Farm's Youth Advisory Board and the highlight of the evening--a presentation from three Oakland High School students on the work they're doing with the Zero Litter Project.
The three students presenters, Andrew Bautista, Zanin David and Matthew Gilkey treated the crowd to an insightful and engaging presentation on the innovative work their doing to capture litter data using the Litterati tool as well as their self-organized waste reduction efforts in their cafateria. Andrew, Zanin and Matthew have been honored with the EarthTeam November Students of the Month award for their presentation and continued leadership for waste reduction on their campus and in their communities. Watch them speak in this video below.
