To celebrate Earth Week, interns took a walking field trip to their local elementary school, Emerson Elementary. Interns partnered with two 5th grade classes to educate students on how to sort and conduct a practice audit on their school’s waste. If you have ever been to the U.C. Berkeley Botanical Gardens, you would probably know that they span over 30 acres of land and house over 10,000 types of plants. Opened in 1890, this facility has supported teaching, research, and conservation in relation to plant biology and diversity. Our team from Richmond High had the chance to visit this vast garden earlier this week and they were amazed at the huge variety of flora.

Upon the team’s arrival, they were split into two groups, each of which was given a docent led “tree tour”...

Earth Team is not just committed to its environmental projects, but also to developing the next generation of green leaders.  Be it through the implementation of service learning projects that give inters the hard skills they need to succeed, public speaking and community engagement opportunities that provide interns with the soft skills they need to succeed, or actually presenting them with opportunities after Earth Team that gives the chance to succeed.
